A merry in Derry
It's bloody good to have Small Town America back in Derry. For those of you who don't know them, no, we haven't shipped Little Rock to Northern Ireland (although we maybe should). Instead we've got possibly one of the most progressive, savvy, focused and downright correct indie labels in the world back in the Maiden City.
Now they're not all perfect. They, for instance, operate under the illusion that Derry is the North's capital of culture when we all know that it's Ballysillan and half of the Cavehill Road. But we'll forgive them for that.
Anyway they put on the City of Song festival and had a thing called the Tennants Trail (sort of like the Camden Crawl but without the fleamarket). And they had Robert at it which was nice. Four sets in two days, a great wee warmup for the launch gig.
What wasn;t so nice was Johnny Black of Lafaro's car getting nicked and burnt out with a load of music gear in it. If you're of good heart have a click at http://tinyurl.com/helplafaro
and chuck them a couple of quid. There'll be a couple of benefit gigs coming up soon too, look out for details of those.
